Carrot Top, born Scott Thompson, grew up in Cocoa Beach, Florida, where his Dad worked for NASA. Carrot Top attended Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, where he began his comedy career by accepting a dare from college buddies to perform on the local radio stations’ open mike night, where he made his first appearance painted in black, wearing a wig and impersonating Michael Jackson.

After graduation, Carrot Top's comedy gigs began paying more bills than his day jobs, leading him to pursue live venues in order to develop his own brand of Carrot Top comedic genius.

Carrot Top found his own style and carries it with him in six trunks full of odd inventions—including high heels with training wheels, airline peanut bags with pictures of missing luggage on the back and paper cup and string telephones with a third cup for call waiting—in order to proudly show off his innovative ideas to his audiences and laugh at his own jokes.

Carrot Top even relies on his brilliant red hair as a prop, using two barrettes to show off his spooky resemblance to the girl in the Wendy’s logo. However, he still cannot bear to break the news to his parents, claiming, “They don’t know I’m a comic…they think I’m doing marketing for Coca-Cola.” The fact that anyone has not heard of the creative comic is unbelievable, considering his countless antics and his flaming-red, carrot top hair.
