The keyboard player and bandleader Sergio Mendes is the true ambassador of his beloved homeland of Brazil. From his jazz-samba days as leader of the Bossa Nova Trio and Sergio Mendes Brasil '66 and hit singles like 'The Look Of Love' and 'Fool On The Hill' to his current exploration of Bahian hiphop , Sergio Mendes is 'a man who may have left Brazil, yet never allowed Brazil to leave him'. Some of the famous names Mendes has worked with over the years include Antonio Carlos Jobim , Joao Gilberto , Stan Getz, Dizzy Gillespie and Herb Alpert & Tijuana Brass. In 1993 Sergio Mendes was presented with a Grammy Award for the smashing album ' Brasileira '. The band includes the striking vocalist Gracinha Leporace (Mendes's wife).
